Live Music in Nowy Targ

Górale music sits at the center of Nowy Targ's identity as a live music town, with the capital of the Podhale region maintaining a tradition of highlander folk rooted in polyphonic singing, tritone-inflected scales derived from shepherd horns, and the fiddle. Regional acts like the Swarni Band carry that tradition forward, while the New Market Jazz Band, founded locally around 1992, demonstrates the town's capacity to sustain serious musical projects across decades, including a main prize win at the International Festival of Traditional Jazz in Iława in 2014. For live shows, the Municipal Culture Centre operates a near-500-seat auditorium with concerts running into 2026, Klub ADHD draws crowds close to the Market Square, and the square itself periodically hosts highlander performances and cultural events. Since 2016, the city-organized "Welcome, Summer!" festival has grown into one of the larger outdoor music events in the Podhale region.
