Folk music runs deep in Kayseri, where Kayseri Türküleri, the city's traditional folk songs, remain a living part of local culture rather than a relic confined to museums. That connection to music stretches back centuries: the Gevher Nesibe Madrasa, one of history's earliest institutions dedicated to treating mental illness, used music as therapy during the Seljuk period. Today, the city supports a range of live venues across formats and scales. The KADIR HAS Performing Arts Center, completed in 2013 with a 1,250-seat auditorium and purpose-built acoustics, anchors the formal end of the spectrum. Jolly Joker Pub Kayseri handles the rougher edges, booking local and international acts across Turkish Pop, Indie Rock, and Alternative Rock. Smaller bars like Pırpır Bar and HEYBE Cafe Canlı Müzik fill out the mid-week calendar with more intimate performances.
