Live Music in Piteå

Few Swedish cities of comparable size have built a music infrastructure this serious. The School of Music at Luleå University of Technology, founded in Piteå in 1978, anchors the city's live scene with Studio Acusticum, one of Northern Europe's most modern concert halls and the home of Sweden's largest concert hall organ. Norrbotten NEO, formed in 2007, became Sweden's first full-time ensemble for contemporary art music, and the Norrbotten Big Band brings a rotating Composer in Residence to the same stages each year. Beyond the institutional core, the coastal resort Pite Havsbad has hosted major acts including Gary Moore in 2008, with Håkan Hellström booked there for 2026.
