The Co-op Hall once drew The Beatles to Nuneaton as a support act, and that early appetite for live music has never fully left the town. Max Hollyman, affectionately known as Nuneaton's grandfather of rock and roll, helped lay the groundwork in the early 1960s, while the mid-decade mod scene took hold in local pubs including The Nags Head and The Corner House. Today, The Crew Rock Bar at Queens Hall carries the banner as the town's largest live music venue, with a program anchored in rock, punk, metal, and tribute acts. Joey's Bar fills a different corner of the spectrum with blues and classic rock, open mic nights, and jam sessions, while The Abbey Theatre and Arts Centre brings a broader performing arts program to the mix. Nuneaton is a working music town with real roots.
