Homegrown acts like Nervecell, who tour internationally, and The Fridge, the UAE's first all-female Emirati band, sit alongside a jazz circuit anchored by venues such as Q's Bar and Lounge, the only jazz club bearing Quincy Jones's name, and Jazz at PizzaExpress, which runs live performances seven nights a week. Annual events like the Dubai Jazz Festival and RedFestDXB draw major international talent, while a crop of independent electronic labels including Granular Music and KitchenSync Records confirms the city is producing, not just importing, its own sounds.
