Planta Carnivora

Avant-garde conceptual rapper Planta Carnivora (aka Santiago-based visual artist Fabiola Alarcon) makes hip-hop so proudly outsider-status that it barely fits within the limits of rap music - which is exactly what makes it powerful. Sure, Planta Carnivora definitely raps - the raucous flow, the arch attitude, the realness, it’s all there. But her approach to the traditional verse + beat formula mocks the very idea of submitting to any of the genre’s standards or conventions of taste.
