Sayma exists since 2000, first Sanja Maas (vocals) and Max Vande Merghel (sound, sampler) met in London. They improvised together and decided to put a band together. In 2002 they played in the Athanor Studio with Maxime Lenssens (drums), Otti Van Der Werf (bass), Philippe Joosens (fender rhodes), Erwin Vann (tenor sax) and Laurent Blondiau (trumpet, fluegel).
