Larry Darnell (b. Leo Edward Donald, December 21, 1928, Columbus, Ohio - d. July 3, 1983, Columbus) was a successful American singer who was instrumental in the formation of the New Orleans style of R&B in the late 1940s and early 1950s. As a teenager he left home to work as a dancer with a burlesque road show, the Brownskin Models, but soon settled in New Orleans, where he worked as a singer in the Dew Drop Inn. In 1949 he was signed up by Fred Mendelsohn for the Regal label in New Jersey.
