Johannes Oerding (born 26 December 1981 in Münster) is a German pop singer and songwriter. Oerding was born in Münster in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and grew up in Geldern-Kapellen on the Lower Rhine with two brothers and two sisters. His father worked as a general practitioner and was also involved in local historical research and the scouting movement, receiving the Federal Cross of Merit for his civic engagement. Oerding attended the Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium in Geldern, where he completed his Abitur.
