James Richard Steinman (November 1, 1947 - April 19, 2021) was an American composer, lyricist, record producer, arranger, pianist, and singer. His work spanned genres including rock, pop, adult contemporary, dance, musical theater, and film music. He is best known for his long-running collaborations with Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler, particularly the albums "Bat Out of Hell", "Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell", and "Faster Than the Speed of Night". "Bat Out of Hell" became one of the best-selling albums in music history.
