The song was uploaded to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's official MySpace page on June 2, 2008. It was announced on February 22, 2009 that "Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)" would be released as the Freemasons' new single. The song was premiered on BBC Radio 1's The Scott Mills Show on April 24 2009.
