Brian Mann

A native of San Francisco, Mann studied piano at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as a child and continues to play jazz piano at Vassar and elsewhere. His central scholarly interest is vocal music of the Italian Renaissance. He is the author of a monograph (UMI Press, 1983) on the secular madrigals of the Flemish composer Filippo di Monte (1521-1603), whose music he has also edited for the Complete Works (University of Leuven Press, 1988).
