Downstairs at The Dome
Downstairs at The Dome is a basement live music venue within a Grade II-listed Victorian building in Tufnell Park, North London. The building dates to 1884 and originally opened in April 1885 as the Stanley Hall and Baths, featuring a 60-foot swimming bath and a public assembly hall. The site has operated as an independent music venue since 1981, when the downstairs space was known as The Boston Music Room. In 2023, following an initiative to support grassroots venues, it was rebranded as Downstairs at The Dome. The room holds up to 300 people and is defined by low ceilings and close quarters, creating a direct, unmediated connection between performers and audience. Its programming centres on rock, metal, alternative, punk, and indie, with a focus on emerging and underground acts. Beyond live music, the space is available for club nights, private events, and commercial hires including film shoots and live session recordings. The venue is accessible to wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility, with a dedicated viewing platform.
