Live Music in Santiago

Few cities in Latin America can claim a music history as politically charged as Santiago's. The Peña de los Parra, opened in downtown Santiago in 1965 by Angel and Isabel Parra, served as a crucible for Nueva Canción Chilena, a movement that fused folk traditions with sharp social commentary and reshaped how an entire continent thought about song. That restless energy persists across the city today, from the jazz rooms of Barrio Italia, including The Jazz Corner and Thelonious Jazz Bar, to the electronic nights at Club La Feria in Bellavista and the rock programming at Teatro Caupolicán. Homegrown artists across genres, from indie electropop singer Javiera Mena to techno producer Claudio Solís, have built careers here. Santiago rewards serious listening at every scale.
