Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen
The Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen opened in 1980 on Theaterplein, designed by architects Rie Haan, Renaat Verbruggen, and Marc Appel in a modernist style that earned it the nickname "The Bunker" among some residents. The main hall's capacity was significantly expanded in the early 1990s from around 800 to roughly 2,000 seats. The venue programs musicals, opera, ballet, concerts, comedy, and cabaret, and its stage ranks among the largest in Europe.
