Bath Forum

The Bath Forum is a Grade II* listed theatre-style music and events venue in the centre of Bath, and the largest event venue in the city as well as the third-largest seated auditorium in the South West of England. Originally opened on 19 May 1934 as one of the last purpose-built Super Cinemas of its era, it was designed by architect A.S. Gray with contributions from W.H. Watkins and E. Morgan Willmott for the Avon Cinemas Company. The building operated as a cinema until 1969, then housed a bingo hall and dancing school before Bath Christian Trust acquired it in 1988. Bath Forum Ltd was established in 2013 to run it as a music and theatre space. Architecturally the building is a pronounced example of Art Deco combined with neo-classical elements, featuring Bath Stone cladding, ornate pillars, a canopied entrance, gold-leafed interior flourishes, lacquered wood fixtures, a large sunburst ceiling motif, and Hellenic-inspired plasterwork friezes. The venue programs music across multiple genres alongside comedy, dance, theatrical productions, and corporate events.
