The O2 Academy Leeds occupies a Grade II listed Gothic building on Cookridge Street, originally opened in 1885 as the Coliseum. The venue has operated under several identities over its long history, becoming a dedicated music venue in 1992 and reopening under Academy Music Group management in 2008. Its main room holds 2,300, with a balcony for around 500 and a basement room for emerging acts accommodating roughly 400.
