Hyde Park Book Club
Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds, GB, is a live music and arts venue that opened in a former petrol station and fancy-dress shop, first as a cafe in 2015 or 2016. It has since expanded into a multi-purpose creative hub, celebrating its tenth year in 2026. The venue contains two distinct spaces: one holds 150 standing or 85 seated, and a smaller room accommodates 45 people. Programming spans live music, art exhibitions, spoken word, community events, open mic nights, talks, theatre, book launches, jazz clubs, and local club nights. Musical genres include electronic, shoegaze, alt-rock, psych-rock, electronic folk, folk, jazz, and pop, with a focus on up-and-coming artists. The basement space has been described as a “Brutalist bunker” with unpainted walls and tangled extension leads, evoking a “Situationist squat” aesthetic. The venue also operates an entirely vegetarian and vegan cafe. It is recognized as a vital platform for artists, musicians, writers, and food enthusiasts, and a staple of Leeds’ independent grassroots music scene.
