SALLE GAVEAU PARIS 08
Salle Gaveau, a 1020-seat concert hall in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, which were a primary focus of architect Jacques Hermant’s original 1905 design. Opened in 1907 for the 1907-1908 season, the venue was named after the French piano maker Gaveau and quickly became a prestigious address for classical music, particularly piano and chamber music, as well as orchestral performances and recitals. Its Italian-style auditorium features a stage extending into the audience, with an elegant grey and gold interior. The building was classified as a historic monument in 1992 after being saved from demolition in the 1970s by musicians Chantal and Jean-Marie Fournier, who restored it; it reopened in 2001. While its programming remains anchored in classical music, it has expanded to include musicals, comedy, and children’s shows. The venue also hosts corporate events in its modular rooms. In October 2024, Jean-Marc Dumontet acquired the hall.
