Savoy-teatteri
Savoy-teatteri is a live music venue in the heart of Helsinki, Finland, next to Esplanadi Park, housed in a 1937 Functionalist building originally designed by Jung & Jung as the Savoy Cinema. It operated as a major cinema for 50 years, including a stint as a Cinerama theatre, before closing in 1983 and reopening as a concert and theatre venue in 1987. Now administered by the City of Helsinki Cultural Office, it is internationally renowned for world music and jazz concerts, while also programming music theatre, dance, stand-up comedy, and other cultural events. The auditorium seats 735 guests, split between 486 main-floor seats and 249 balcony seats. Architecturally, the venue is noted for its Art Deco interiors and original Iittala light fixtures designed by Gunilla Jung. Its central location, acoustically functional hall, and stylish setting make it a distinctive fixture in Helsinki’s cultural landscape, serving as a guest stage for both Finnish and international performers.
