Vassal

Vassal (16th century – 16th century – active 1538–1547) was a French Renaissance composer. Nothing is known about his life. He has handed down six four-part chansons. In five of them he concentrates on the form of the hearty chanson grivoise , the subject of which is farcical farce and jokes; only one, Vuidez soulas , is of conventional sentimental content. His works are reminiscent of those of his contemporaries Jannequin and Passereau in the texts, but also in the use of short notes as the primary rhythmic values.
