Tommaso Carapella (Naples, c. 1715 – Naples, 1765) was an Italian composer, organist, and teacher active in Naples during the middle decades of the eighteenth century, a period when the city was one of Europe’s most important centres for sacred music and musical education. Born around 1715, Carapella was trained within the Neapolitan conservatory system and is documented as a pupil of Francesco Durante, placing him squarely within the lineage that also includes Pergolesi, Paisiello, Traetta, and Jommelli.
