Richard Grossman , a Californian resident who died of cancer in 1992, described his pianism as , somewhere stylistically between Paul Bley and Howard Riley. this is a trio that worked together on and off for nearly 20 years, and the empathy is stunning. Richard Grossman was born in New York City in 1937, and died of lung cancer in Oct, 1992. He grew up in the South, and began playing jazz piano professionally while still in high school in Philadelphia.
