Johann Samuel Schröter (also spelled Schroeter/Schröter) was an eighteenth-century German-language keyboard musician and composer closely associated with London musical life in the 1770s and 1780s. Sources disagree on his exact birth details, but they consistently place his career after a family musical upbringing and early activity linked to Leipzig before his move to London, where he remained and later married Rebecca Scott in 1775 at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
