Haji Basto is a Canadian rapper from the Jamestown area of Rexdale in Etobicoke. He is recognized as a prominent figure in the modern Toronto hip-hop scene and is a member of the "Basto" gang, a subset of the Jamestown Crips. He gained significant attention in 2023, with his debut song "Dead Guys" releasing on July 2, 2023, in his first year he was frequently cited as Toronto's "Rookie of the Year" due to his rapid rise. His music is characterized by vivid storytelling, unique flows, and an authentic "Toronto sound".
