Eskew Reeder was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on November 20, 1935, and died in Harlem on October 23, 1986, of AIDS. He was a singer, songwriter and pianist who also went by the stage name Esquerita. He is credited with influencing rock and roll pioneer Little Richard.
