Dark Fortress was a German melodic black metal band formed in 1994 in Landshut, Germany. The band released seven studio albums, one split release, and one demo before disbanding in 2023. The band was founded in 1994. In 1996, Dark Fortress released the demo "Rebirth of the Dark Age". In 1997, the original lineup consisted of guitarist Asvargr, vocalist Azathoth, bassist Njord, and drummer Charon. The group later expanded with the addition of guitarist Crom and keyboardist Thamuz for live performances.
