She later expanded on this viral hit with "Cruel Summer," a single pulled from her 2017 eponymous album. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Mason broke into the music industry as a songwriter, penning songs for Nick Jonas, among others. Mason was a childhood friend of the Jonas Brothers, and Joe gave her a break by having her tour with his band DNCE.
