Berlin native Charles Tone was already active as a guitarist and singer in numerous underground bands in the city ten years before he started his work as a DJ in 1994. Even during his band days, he was much more interested in synthetic soundscapes in the style of Robert Fripp than the distorted electric guitar solos of some of his co-musicians and their influences. This is reflected in the music that Charles Tone makes today. Charles Tone plays the "electronic Charleston"
